According to the International Coffee Organization, each year Italians consume an average of 5.62 kg of coffee per capita.
And not surprisingly, Italy is the second largest importer of coffee in Europe!
With all that coffee we are drinking everyday, throughout the day, we are producing a huge amount of coffee ground waste. While many sustainability programs had been placed promote the growing and the trade of coffee beans, the coffee waste is very much overlooked, till now.
In fact, there are many ways to recycle and reuse coffee grounds. Coffee Reloaded was a project that started to explore the different ways coffee grounds can be reutilized. We identified used coffee grounds not as waste, but as a valuable resource with many potentials.
